If you are a creative thinker you might consider my title to mean that our sun bestows its rays to warm all humankind equally; with intention. However, in the realm of physics, my title would read more like this: the sun rises on cue because the earth spins in a regular manner. And by the way, it is now known that our Sun is in fact warming. But the workings of our universe are all-encompassing and too broad for my blog to address.
So I thought I’d bring it down to Mother Earth in the form of politics—currently entitled “Global Warming.” NO, I do not take sides on this issue because I know only what one side believes immediately countered by what the other side believes. I might be more interested to actually find out if We the People were told the truth about anything.
Whether or not the term Global Warming is a metaphor implying that our sun is actually heating up and over TIME may look like uninhabitable Venus; sometimes called Earth’s twin because they are almost the same size and have about the same mass.
But in the here and now maybe Earth’s Humankind should quit warring over everything! Instead—as I heard recently—find a way to move Mother Earth further away from its Sun. Yes, I know. Everything depends on our compassion for those yet to be born.
There’s a book I’m reading that unexpectedly shed light on how humankind can be as one; even if for a single moment each evening.
To lay the groundwork I quote from the book: “The Story of Earth” by Robert M. Hazen that says in part: “…The over-whelming majority of those first atoms were hydrogen—more than 90 percent of all atoms—with a few percent helium and a trace of lithium thrown in. That mix of elements formed the first stars.” Hazen continues with a chapter on “First Light.” It was then that I caught the light…
What if, without the customary spin on how, why, when or if we are to look at the stars, “We the Peoples of Earth” step outside and look up anyway at what twinkles equally above our homes? It is here we offer hope to one another that plant the seeds of a renewed “First Light.”
Oh, and God, well is not that life-force also the stars?
In my youth, knowledge of Our World existed between the covers of books that transported me to ports-of-call I only dreamed of visiting. Today, I blend together my travels with my acceptance of the complexities of our world – unfamiliar thoughts now planted in my garden of understanding. What follows is my harvest:
Each of us is born alone and death will be without companionship. In between, we are amongst Earth’s Sisters and Brothers.
Corporeal truths are physically experienced—Spiritual truths are gathered in life’s backyard.
We The People neither yell nor whisper in the ear of supremacy. The prosperous might get a glimpse of it. The poor are still poor in spite of it. And, most will never get close enough to discover its vulnerabilities.
Children and education are conjoined twins that should never be separated.
To be invited within is to be greeted with the blessing of hospitality.
If progress, however slight is not shared, we will not perceive our own plight.
Teach one another to plant—recognizing our diversity—and a seed will not only take root: it will grow change.
I was out walking this morning and saw a snake in the grass… OOPS that reference to politicians just slipped out…
As I was saying: I was out walking this morning—there really was a snake—and the thought crossed my mind how earth’s gravity keeps me from shooting off: who knows where to? This thought led to the question: “What does the name EARTH mean?” You know the one that keeps us all grounded.
EARTH has different names; however a common thread in all languages was derived from the same meaning in their origins: ground or soil.
Genesis 1:1 as a statement that the cosmos had an absolute beginning (In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…)
Earth is the only planet in the Solar System with plate tectonics and consists of land, air, water and life.
Maybe walking isn’t good for my health after all? Oh Earth still grounds me—but to what?
We the People are living through a large-scale shooting off and none of us know where to.
The word MIDDLE means equally distant from the extremes.
The word GROUND means the basis for something.
I’m awake—as I’ve never been before—to the thought that Humankind’s Earth is our only remaining Collective Middle Ground. Yet, I cannot say with certainty that this premise is entirely true. Remember the story of the “Pied Piper of Hamelin” hired to lure the rats away with his magic pipe?
History is littered with pied pipers who lead others to believe in something untrue or unreal or who made rash promises. Yet, We the People wake everyday and find a way to survive this magic pipe.
My thread—golden and hopeful—is a belief that We the People (in the stillness that is thought) can and do influence change on Earth.
The Reader’s Digest Great Encyclopedia Dictionary provides seven possible definitions of the word: rhetoric. I picked number four: “…Affected and exaggerated display in the use of language.” I did this with intent as do those who overstate their stance on what ultimately affects We the People. Of course, I know the nature of rhetoric is to affect the minds of the listener but more than that—to sway We the People to segregate.
Rhetoric built every society on Earth and—if you eavesdropped in history class—it likewise destroyed sovereignty (independence).
Rhetoric also means the art of discourse—at home; at school; in church; laws; with neighbors; the Constitution; etc.—all seemingly in the clear. Well, until affected by an exaggerated display in the use of language that pigeonhole…We the People.
To look for the reasons WHY inside a revolutionary mind is like looking into the universe thinking we see it clearly. We can never know the exact point where any mind turns from what is customary to what is lethal.
And what We The People thought was solid ground beneath our freedoms is now falling into a deep abyss of the few stealing from the majority what used to be our peace of mind.
The formative years for our children (our youth) is fodder to twist for the good of our country or for its destruction. History confirms it is possible to indoctrinate and bully OUR youth into carrying out the unimaginable on behalf of manipulative heretics.
Yes, we must deal with those whose minds already hemorrhage with hatred. Yet, I would much prefer that our country begin to wonder OUT LOUD… “What can I do to remove inbred prejudice from my own life so the youth I touch cannot catch even a flicker of it?
Us, you know the ones, We the People. Are we courageous enough to consider, let alone watch, the devastation that is our world? Damage caused by Mother Nature; Human Nature; Human Governments; Human Intolerance; Human Indifference, and Human Lack of Knowledge.
Regardless of the reason(s), We the People are on this Earth together—what happens to my sisters and brothers happens to me. Maybe not right now and maybe not tomorrow; but, I fool myself not… It is constructing!
Chaos and instability and hatred and prejudice and power-hunger eat away at the core that is Mankind’s Humanity. Earth, being a living thing, surely must notice. Tomorrow… Well that is never guaranteed.
