“EARTH’S SUN IS WARMING…”

sun

If you are a creative thinker you might consider my title to mean that our sun bestows its rays to warm all humankind equally; with intention. However, in the realm of physics, my title would read more like this: the sun rises on cue because the earth spins in a regular manner. And by the way, it is now known that our Sun is in fact warming. But the workings of our universe are all-encompassing and too broad for my blog to address.

So I thought I’d bring it down to Mother Earth in the form of politics—currently entitled “Global Warming.” NO, I do not take sides on this issue because I know only what one side believes immediately countered by what the other side believes. I might be more interested to actually find out if We the People were told the truth about anything.

Whether or not the term Global Warming is a metaphor implying that our sun is actually heating up and over TIME may look like uninhabitable Venus; sometimes called Earth’s twin because they are almost the same size and have about the same mass.

But in the here and now maybe Earth’s Humankind should quit warring over everything! Instead—as I heard recently—find a way to move Mother Earth further away from its Sun. Yes, I know. Everything depends on our compassion for those yet to be born.

Universe – Time without End

“Destruction: By Self or By…”

Janet's project 1 copyThere are only unsympathetic synonyms listed for the word Destruction. I take for granted this is due to humankind’s experience—throughout time—of the word itself. So, you may ask, why should I care about the WORD DESTRUCTION? It is, isn’t it, just a word for heaven’s sake?

Well, if we’ve been hanging around Mother Earth for any time at all, we’ve experienced destruction to our psyche due to: wars: religion; poverty; hatred; cover-ups; family; hunger; fear; health; greed; death of those we love; power, and our own self-destruction.

It is honestly Destruction by Self that is at the depth of my sorrow for humankind. This loss is the hardest to tolerate—while it happens and forever afterwards. Of course, there are specialists who treat and can help; also if allowed. There is prayer. But, thus far, you and I were not endowed with an ability to save another if they are dedicated to self-destruction.

Save is a word that means to set aside. Perhaps we should set aside the act to save another until we have rescued ourselves.

“The Voices…”

liberty_000Year 2014: Can’t you hear our wailing? Do you not sense the rise as we lift from the ashes of war? Have you not yielded to the whimpers of the children? Has not power been revealed as an Achilles’ heel? Humankind’s voice is shouting: even when silenced by tyranny or partition. For it is within the privacy of every  thought that each voice cannot be denied its intention.

Year 1903: Perhaps American poet Emma Lazarus (1849-1887), born in New York City, said it best in “The New Colossus” {a sonnet written in 1883 and on a bronze plaque in the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty; placed in 1903.}

Give me your tired, your poor. Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

THE VOICES: Those yearning to breathe free then and now—one-hundred and eleven years later—shall not be silenced. For once a lamp is lit its glimmer is cast for all time.

“OUR HANDS TELL OUR STORY…”

HANDSI attended a wedding recently and when the rings were exchanged I noticed the hands of the bride and groom. It brought to mind how our hands tell our story.

Hands embraced in prayer or clutched in resentment. Cocoon Hands coddling a newborn that change direction to strike a teenager. Hands that protect a toddler or hands that smack. Hands that caress the face of a beloved or hit when aggravated. A Handclasp of commitment that was or was not honored. Idle aged Hands unoccupied by touch. Hands eroded by toil. Gun-in-Hands used in sport or war or unlawful death. For all kinds of reasons: Politician Handshakes. Homeless that chronicle Hands living without a roof over their head. The doctor and nurse Hands who save; or touch our shoulder with empathy. Hands: our military and law enforcement and firefighters and our sisters and brothers that like us, have hands that tell their story.

I no longer think how different we humankind are on Our Earth. How our hands tell our story may be different in language and culture but not in emotion.

“SHELL SHOCK TODAY…”

The term Shell Shock—in the sense of war—goes back to World War I; a malady that today metamorphosed into any number of synonyms to describe the psychosis of war.

In our days women and men serve in the military, but like those days, the children and families and nations still weep. And, shell shock today, like back then, still affects the Everything of Life.

In today’s world we are all, in some form, feeling the psychosis of internal and external revolt against what went before and is ongoing now. Not unlike the signature injury of WWI, Shell Shock, there will be consequences to the psyche of all humankind.

Yet, I dare to exclaim: “We must continue to reveal the Everything of Life!”

“INSIGHT – A GIVEN OR AQUIRED?…”

typewriter_legswtypewriter_sample_img_2INSIGHT: We all hope we have it. IT that keeps us protected by using our five senses: vision, hearing, smell, taste and touch. But the REAL question is: Are my five wits always firing? I would love to think so; but I’d be fooling myself.

In my mind’s eye I think all five senses surely fire when shock takes hold… You know: war or despots or disaster or hatred or poverty or inhumanity or… You add your own list here.

To ask the question of whether or not Insight is Given or Acquired is like asking someone: “Do you know what your future holds?”  Yet, if we were to invite this query into our consciousness—in any given moment—we just might have the first sensitivity of how to salvage ourselves. It is then, using our five senses, we just might be able to lend a hand to humankind.
