“HAVE YOU HEARD THE BABIES CRY?”

life stories

The humankind mothers of the before times and the mothers in this moment heard their child’s first cry. How each mother answered that wail is still ringing in their ears. On Mother Earth it is expected that each newborn comes with tears to shed for all that each of us will encounter throughout our life. Yet the total tears destined to be shed are equally in the hands of those who are the baby’s caretakers.

Since I am not qualified to speak for the varied mothers in the Animal Kingdom, I will not. But I will add that in my international travels the babies in each pride we encountered are sheltered and violently protected; even at the cost of their parent’s life. And yes, even some spiders who give their own body as food to allow their many babies to survive.

Yes, worldwide health issues silence many a newborn’s first cry. Yes, there are those who try to help yet cannot due to a lack of knowledge, religion, fear of immunizations, corruption, and the silenced voice of women. I am certain you have your own list so I won’t continue.

But in America, so far, we have national and state and county programs and courts of law, and law firms, family counseling, etc. to protect that first cry of a newborn. Yet, the criteria within these well-intentioned agencies cannot and do not hear nor see the babies cry.

“Have You Heard The Babies Cry?” If so, how many total tears are we willing to tolerate on their behalf? First we will hear their whimper and then their scream.

“What IS The Greater Good?..”

Janet's logo text

The term Greater Good has always fascinated me. Not the term itself, but the intention of those who try to define it; like I am right now.

The word GREATER means: better, superior and bigger. The word GOOD means: blameless, decent and worthy. Some say IT benefits more people than oneself. IT is also defined as that which is better and more correct. These ideals have BIG SHOES to fill as Mother Earth tries to balance our differences.

The words “Greater Good” remind me of the buildup to an orchestra’s crescendo; loud and meaningful and intended. After which humankind go their separate ways, lessening the collective meaning of our shared experience.

So what is the Greater Good? That dear readers, is the intention you give to IT.

“WHAT IS TRUTH?…”

TRUTH – the word means fact, reality, honesty and loyalty… Words that live inside me as part Janet's logo textof who I was, where I came from, who I loved, why I loved and who I am. Those who came before me set the stage I was to step out on in what is known as LIFE.

But these days I wonder whom to trust with my understanding of Humankind on Mother Earth. The Power Brokers: Governments, Media, Movies, Social Media, Prejudice, Education, Killing Fields etc. all vie for My Voice.

So, I don’t know if I’m right about this for you, but for me, like when the swollen rivers rise, I head for higher ground; a place where I remember the sound of My Own Voice.

“A Sense of Place…”

Janet's logo textRecently—watching the evening news—I wondered where is that sense of place I knew so well as a child. The place of family and shelter and protection until that one day at school we were taught how to hide beneath our wooden desks warning The Russians Are Coming! That did not pan out but it did, for the first time, educate me to know that my sense of place had just changed forever.

Also, in those days, we were convinced that, if we chose to, we could dig our way down and find China. Given I was reading a book about China at the time I was more interested in this effort than my two brothers. Their sense of place at the time was building their forts using old wooden boxes and scrap paraphernalia they found as they played all over the neighborhood. Many years later I was fortunate enough to see China: after a very long plane ride. As the drone of the plane flew on I smiled to myself thinking back to the broken wooden spatula my mother encouraged me to use if I was serious about digging my way to another sense of place.

So I ask: On Our Earth Today is there A SENSE OF PLACE anywhere? Anger and frustration and killing fields and lines not to cross and on and on… I need say no more.

So I pose this: If we have forgotten or don’t think about and don’t care about our sense of place then we Humankind are no longer writing the Life Stories of the Individual or Earth itself.

Maybe we should look to Mother Nature’s trees and the animals and the oceans and the land  because they are indeed grounded in A Sense of Place.

2015: “A Rose When I Was A Child…”

roses

It was the voice of my Italian grandmother who used to say things like: “…you kids grow too fast. Slow down. Smell my roses; they not last either.” I, of course heard her, but did I listen? No, not really. Her message was imprisoned in my youth. But today, yes the first day of 2015 at around ten at night I heard: “…see, I tell you the truth.”

I wonder what Maria would think of humankind these days—so far removed from the immigrants struggling in the coal mining camps of her day. For Heaven’s sakes we are now searching for answers in the Cosmos and losing sight of our neighbor next door. Don’t get me wrong, I find significance in knowledge. But more, I find hopefulness in the storytelling of those who came before us. The ones who warned us to slow down… “Tomorrow waits for no one.”

2015: Who among you will dare to smell a rose or listen to the laughter of a child or remember the voices of those who came before or hold an aged hand and ask: “What do you mean grandmother that I grow too fast? After all: LIFE IS INTENTION!

“STAR TREK” – WHO KNEW THAT WE…”

HEADLINE: “Star Trek-like invisible shield found thousands of miles above Earth…” University of Colorado Boulder

boulderhttp://www.colorado.edu/news

For me, this revelation requires some Cosmos like questions:

  1. Has this Star Trek-like Shield been there (wherever that is) all along?
  2. Did it reveal only when Humankind’s technology and curiosity to probe advanced?
  3. Does The Cosmos unveil our Earth’s secrets only when the time is right?
  4. Are we Humankind wise enough to not interfere with such a revelation?
  5. I ask because doesn’t Humankind destroy, one way or another, all we intend to overcome?
  6. Last, and not least, will Humankind grasp that this Star Trek-Shield covers YOU and ME.

“HAND: THE WORD & HUMANKIND…”

hands

HAND is a word that means give or offer or tender or dispense. This knowing caused me to wonder: “What if each time we shake a hand or hold a hand or kiss a hand or pat a hand or reach for a helping hand our LIFE would be—for the moment—unbroken?”

For those of you who know me suspect another question isn’t far behind. Here it is: “Might it be possible that the words we speak—as simple as HAND—are intended to carry out a purpose equally as vital to humankind as breathing?”

“Look Outward…Inquire Within…”

outward

My title (above) flashed quickly by in a television ad at the moment I drained my Cup of Joe. I guess it’s the writer in me that observes a picture in words: like an artist might see a masterpiece in a color palette. In this case my doorway to creating a new blog.

Look Outward: I assume each of us know what it is to LOOK. But to look OUTWARD, well that may require a different state of mind: one willing to see but not judge others or ourselves. A way of thinking that requires empathy. There is woefully every form of opinion in every form of media that calls to us: “Get On Board,” we have your answer. To Look Outward we see the firestorm.

Inquire Within: Ah, here we have the reflection that is our essence. It is here we are liberated to think and wonder and ask and form opinion without outward influences. Humankind’s voice is silent here because it’s threatened by the Outward. Yet, the power that is thought lives at this moment and for all time. Inquire Within and we see the obtainable.

Humankind: Can We Hear the “Hymn of the Universe?”

pierre

Introduction: I do not presume to describe for you the “Hymn of the Universe” by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin {1881-1955}. A French philosopher and Jesuit priest who trained as a paleontologist and geologist (pictured).

Visitor: Why should I care about a hymn or a dead French philosopher?

JLM’S Garden: “These are great questions and the answer below may surprise you!”

Reflections:

Words: Hymn is a chant or mantra. The universe is creation or life. Humankind is a word meaning human race or civilization.

When I look out at Mother Earth I hear no hymn, only the noise that is chaos and insurrection.

Yet, when I look into the Cosmos I sense the energy that is the potential of humankind.

In today’s technological world we can absorb—in most languages—the intention of the writings in the “Hymn of the Universe” or any other treatise we choose to wonder about. Well, except for our sisters and brothers denied admittance to evolution that only consciousness can bring.

Answer:  In his writings on “Planetary Mind and Our Spiritual Evolution” our same French philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin says this: “The coming stage of evolution won’t be driven by physical adaptation but by human consciousness, creativity, and spirit.

“What Is Intention Anyway?…”

intention

Intention is a word that means purpose and there are other synonyms—but they do not belong in this blog. You’ll see why.

Prophecy is a prediction made under divine influence and direction: something a lot like the word intention; or is it? Well here comes the rub as far as I’m concerned.

From Mother Earth’s first sunlight we, humankind, have careworn our world using one word: intention. One century after another we’ve governed the play calls by making use of kings, rooks, bishops, queens, knights and pawns—utilizing our rank and file—to checkmate Earth’s Chessboard christened rationale.

There is in the word itself to intend. So do I plant my intentions? You bet! And, guess what it revealed: CAUTION!

The next time we intend a thought—silent or spoken—become vigilant. It just might determine what intention will be fulfilled. And it is at that exact moment humankind will look skyward to the cosmos or downward to the destruction of Mother Earth.
