COLORADO & PULLING WEEDS…”

denver-147478

Today, as I pulled weeds from our rock garden, I realized the rocks held tight to these intruders as if implying they were here to stay. For those of you who know my blogs—yes—there is a link between what was intended and how our garden actually grows.

EXAMPLE AUTOMOBILES: I was born and raised in Trinidad, Colorado and until I was seven years old we did not have an automobile. So when Dad came home with IT Mother insisted we put on cleans clothes and shoes (we went barefoot all the time). Sometime later we learned we were to take a family trip to Denver. In those days IT was the center of our Colorado. We all got sick from the fumes rising into the car but no one complained because Denver was our destination! Compare this to today when some use their vehicles for weapons & lawyers are everywhere.

EXAMPLE EDUCATION: We learned what there was to learn in those days. Books were in print and never up-to-date. One BIG scare while in high school was the fact We the People were warned that the Russians were coming for us. We were advised, by those who said the Russians were coming, that when they did arrive we were to hide beneath our wooden desks. Naively my friends and family took this threat seriously. These days there are ultimately much easier ways for Russia to attack us without touching our shores.

EXAMPLE TECHNOLOGY: Pencils and paper and rulers and machines that clicked and libraries and calculations on paper and cursive and Hallmark cards we wrote in and typewriters and Gregg Shorthand Simplified and storytelling by writers in hardbound books one could smell and television and connecting with others by telephone and whatever you wish to add to this list.

EXAMPLE FOOD: We had local stores where everyone knows your name. Where people could promise to pay for food later and they did. Where most had gardens with vegetables and all food was cooked by hands who knew the purpose of its nutrients. Contrast the warnings on the news these days as to what is or is not good for us or contaminated or a new version of yesterday’s food and those end dates on packaged products of all kinds. I’m curious if the dates are arbitrary or real?

EXAMPLE MEDICINE: I do not remember taking pills when I grew up. There were no cupboards to lock in case a child might get curious about what looked like candy. And did we have as many illnesses before the list of their possibilities started to run across every television station asking us to call our doctor just in case we have one of the symptoms mentioned. And I question if in fact if marijuana helps some illnesses why haven’t the pharmaceutical companies jumped onboard. It’s not like marijuana hasn’t been around forever.

EXAMPLE LEGAL MARIJUANA: Just a question: Are the legal monies for selling marijuana actually reaching the COLORADO CHILDREN to enhance their education. Some say yes and some say no. This question is like those weeds I chose to pull this morning: intruders in my garden that are coming harder and harder to pull.

“TO BE OR NOT TO BE IS THE QUESTION…”

Whether or not William Shakespeare of Stratford-upon-Avon wrote or did not write the works attributed to him—as some claim—does not in my mind cast a shadow of a doubt that “The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark or HAMLET for short, dates between 1599 & 1602 and is a masterpiece of betrayal—a  blog for another day.

Today is about the phrase from Hamlet “…to be or not to be” that we the people persist saying to this day. Yet how or when the words is the question” were added to the phrase I cannot say. Perhaps the answer is in the play itself or in our need to find answers for questions that are unanswerable.

As in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, life and death is still in the balance of how we humankind are to be or not to be. Our energy is intensifying and we look to Mother Earth who looks back and asks us: to be or not to be? Generations of those who built a solid steadiness we counted on weep at our breakdown. Malevolent and Noble continually cross swords to assure a win and the people cry out: to be or not to be. Children, being children, sense the MIGHT of the swords and reach for a sanctuary. The Statue of Liberty—a gift to America from the people of France—stands in bewilderment at her role to be or not to be.

The older word Musing means thought or reflection or deliberation and broadcasts to the world…TO BE OR NOT TO BE IS THE QUESTION!

“GLOBAL WARMING & A PICTURE OF MOTHER EARTH…”

earth

Each day I wake to a picture of Mother Earth that hangs on a wall across from my bed. Her colors are the shade of Salmon as they fight upstream waters to mate. Her blue shades are those of the oceans that buoy up thoughts of how deep does it go? The russet sands of windswept deserts. The white color is the home of Polar Bear and Penguins and the wonderment of what is beneath the ice flows.

There is another Picture of Mother Earth with the name Global Warming. Since I have not and will not be alive a millennium (1,000 years) I’ve not ventured into this quarrel. Yet, there are a few things I’ve noticed on the matter.

Since Mother Earth is a sort of Globe I would think that all governments would get on board with how to fix this critical dilemma that supposedly intends to obliterate humankind and any and all specie that consider Earth home. I do see wars—for whatever cause—high on lists. I see people wearing masks as winds share their caustic air. I see poverty that stores trash until the rains come and the rivers send it to the oceans. I see immigrants on capsized boats drowning in the seas and wonder how that changes the salt waters of Earth. And I see people with placards who hold responsible one another for The Cause.

Yet, each day that I glance over at my picture of Mother Earth I’m certain of one thing: Until humankind lives up to its name – HUMAN KIND – we the collective will miss treat one another. Then I get curious and wonder: How long will Mother Earth tolerate her errant children before she says ENOUGH!

“The Voices…”

liberty_000Year 2014: Can’t you hear our wailing? Do you not sense the rise as we lift from the ashes of war? Have you not yielded to the whimpers of the children? Has not power been revealed as an Achilles’ heel? Humankind’s voice is shouting: even when silenced by tyranny or partition. For it is within the privacy of every  thought that each voice cannot be denied its intention.

Year 1903: Perhaps American poet Emma Lazarus (1849-1887), born in New York City, said it best in “The New Colossus” {a sonnet written in 1883 and on a bronze plaque in the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty; placed in 1903.}

Give me your tired, your poor. Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

THE VOICES: Those yearning to breathe free then and now—one-hundred and eleven years later—shall not be silenced. For once a lamp is lit its glimmer is cast for all time.

“OUR WORLD TRAVELED…”

Janet's project 1 copyArtists: M&M Creative Designs

In my youth, knowledge of Our World existed between the covers of books that transported me to ports-of-call I only dreamed of visiting. Today, I blend together my travels with my acceptance of the complexities of our world – unfamiliar thoughts now planted in my garden of understanding. What follows is my harvest:

  • Each of us is born alone and death will be without companionship. In between, we are amongst Earth’s Sisters and Brothers.
  • Corporeal truths are  physically experienced—Spiritual truths are gathered in life’s backyard.
  • We The People neither yell nor whisper in the ear of supremacy. The prosperous might get a      glimpse of it. The poor are still poor in spite of it. And, most will never get close enough to discover its vulnerabilities.
  • Children and education are conjoined twins that should never be separated.
  • To be invited within is to be greeted with the blessing of hospitality.
  • If progress, however slight is not shared, we will not perceive our own plight.
  • Teach one another to plant—recognizing our diversity—and a seed will not only take root: it will grow change.
  • Presumption is a misplaced comfort.

“SHELL SHOCK TODAY…”

world-war-i-in-19180

history.howstuffworks.com

The term Shell Shock—in the sense of war—goes back to World War I; a malady that today metamorphosed into any number of synonyms to describe the psychosis of war.

In our days women and men serve in the military, but like those days, the children and families and nations still weep. And, shell shock today, like back then, still affects the Everything of Life.

In today’s world we are all, in some form, feeling the psychosis of internal and external revolt against what went before and is ongoing now. Not unlike the signature injury of WWI, Shell Shock, there will be consequences to the psyche of all humankind.

Yet, I dare to exclaim: “We must continue to reveal the Everything of Life!”

“A REVOLUTIONARY MIND…”

typewriter_legswtypewriter_sample_img_2To look for the reasons WHY inside a revolutionary mind is like looking into the universe thinking we see it clearly. We can never know the exact point where any mind turns from what is customary to what is lethal.

And what We The People thought was solid ground beneath our freedoms is now falling into a deep abyss of the few stealing from the majority what used to be our peace of mind.

The formative years for our children (our youth) is fodder to twist for the good of our country or for its destruction. History confirms it is possible to indoctrinate and bully OUR youth into carrying out the unimaginable on behalf of manipulative heretics.

Yes, we must deal with those whose minds already hemorrhage with hatred. Yet, I would much prefer that our country begin to wonder OUT LOUD… “What can I do to remove inbred prejudice from my own life so the youth I touch cannot catch even a flicker of it?

“BUDDING PROMISE…”

Promise means to pledge, assure, vow and guarantee. But life, it seems, cannot pledge, assure, vow nor guarantee anything to anyone. I know this instinctively; but, until it involves the extinction of the Budding Promise of a child… Well, it is then I feel the bereavement at a depth that is my soul.

At the moment we hear a child belittled; know of sexual abuse; wonder why bullies are created; children murdered or inside that same death: enslaved. This is both the loss of a child’s soul and the passing away of Budding Promise to the heart that is Mother Earth.

How might our world have “looked” had every Budding Promise been free to seek themselves and save us?

“DNA – The Light & The Dark”

Wikipedia: DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) [at first discovered by James D. Watson and Francis Crick] containing the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms (with the exception of RNA viruses)…

DNA, as described above, is, in my opinion, the LIGHT!

But, if you know my writings at all, you will know we will now take a leap from the luminous side of DNA to the mind-numbing. Let’s presume, just for sake of the game, there are people looking for their moment of fame by using the wonder of DNA to confirm they are (or are not) the biological father of a newborn. In this case there may be as many as five who take a DNA test to make available to the mother a father for her baby. Okay, I’ve laid enough underpinning.

Everyone claims social media is a forever thing; so might these children someday watch their mothers bartering for a father and their potential fathers jumping with joy when their DNA doesn’t match?  Some “caught” walk away and others say: “I’ll do right by this baby.” But do they? The foreseeable continues to happen and DNA can do nothing to stop it.

DNA not withstanding… I envision the Essence of God asking: “WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN?”

FALL FROM GRACE

“FALL FROM GRACE” is a well-known term used to define something we really cannot articulate in any other way. The definition for Fall: collapse (meaning to come to nothing). The definition for Grace: elegance or beauty of form, manner, motion or action. There is an extensive litany on the expression: To Fall From Grace that I needn’t repeat here.

What I do want to say is that the underpinning of what I thought was the United States and the world for that matter, has FALLEN FROM GRACE. The fall continues to come in many forms: despots being toppled; the interconnectedness of monetary systems exposed to their core; self-indulgence at the expense of a future for our children and grandchildren; centuries of abuse of women and children; loathing because we honor God in different ways; hidden secrets exposed inside religious and secular institutions; the destruction of peoples in poverty; the destruction of America’s middleclass; politicians (worldwide) who forgot or never cared to represent the peoples who elected them; polarization of a singular way of thinking that ignores the median of life, and very disturbing to me, the American Congress I find more interested in winning than serving—not re-election…power!

All of these issues are at the core of the heart of the peoples of the world and yet it seems our voices have Fallen From Grace.
